    Q: Candle Safety
What should I know about candle safety and burning a candle?

A: Always remove and labels, ribbons or tags that could catch fire. Dispose of properly.

These instructions are for your protection! Please be careful with open flames.. Please follow the guidelines below to get the best enjoyment and satisfaction out of our candles. We take pride in our work and hope you enjoy our candles

Have you ever had a store-bought candle that smoked excessively? Burned down the middle of the candle? RC Scentsations candles are designed to not smoke and not tunnel, but proper maintenance of any candle can save you money and increase your enjoyment of your new aromas.

Place freestanding candles in a shallow dish or bowl to catch the wax in case of a blowout.

Surfaces: Always burn candles on a heat resistant surface. Candle holders may become hot and damage furniture a container can get hot when it`s burning near the end. That`s why you should always leave 1/2" of wax on the bottom.

Be attentive! Most candle accidents are caused by leaving a burning candle unattended. Don`t do it! It is so easy to dip out the flame if you need to leave the room. An animal or child can knock over a candle unintentionally. That extra second could save you years of heartache!

Burn for the appropriate length of time: The `rule` is to burn for 1 hour for each inch of diameter for best burning results and scent throw. The shorter your burns, the more your candle will tunnel. Wax has a `memory` - if you leave a wall of wax after your first burn, it will remember this and tunnel on subsequent burns. Longer burns may melt too much wax at once and cause the wick to drown.

Dip your wick! Blowing out a candle will cause it to smoke, and can splatter wax. Take a non-flammable object (or one of our Snuffies) and dip the lighted wick into the melted wax. Straighten and re-center the wick for your next burning. If you have a container candle with a lid, do not put out the candle by putting the lid on. You will create black soot on your container and may crack or damage the lid. Dip the wick and then put the lid on.

Keep your wick trimmed. A large flame can be the cause of soot. Keep your wicks 1/4 to 1/2" in length. A shorter wick is a smaller flame. Dip your wick out, trim it, and relight. Some of our heavier scents will cause our wicks to `mushroom`. This is a reminder that it`s time to trim.

Observe recommended burning times. Marathon burns will just consume a candle faster than normal. To make your candle last the longest time, burn your container candles no longer than 4 hours at a time.

Position candles free of and away from flammable materials

Keep wick centered and trimmed to ½ inch and discontinue when only ½-inch of wax remains

Burn only on a stable, heat-resistant surface and keep out of drafts

Do not move candle while burning or if wax is hot

Keep out of reach of children and pets

Extinguish flame by using a candle snuffer to avoid spraying hot wax.
